Olmert Makes a Stand

‘At this present juncture, I am opposed to armed struggle because we cannot succeed in it, but maybe in the future things will be different’.
The words of Mahmoud Abbas during a recent interview to a Jordanian newspaper.
He then went on to say Israel's actions are "worse than the Holocaust."
How the West expects Israel to work towards peace with this cancerous fraud is beyond belief and it comes as no surprise and indeed no great loss that the Palestinian Authority have finally broken off complete relations with Israel.
Today Olmert has finally recovered his spine and informed the world where to shove their concerns for terrorists firing rockets from amongst civilian populations. The terrible scenes in the Gaza Strip, where innocent children and women are being injured and killed are completely the doing of Hamas and its allies. Hamas/Fatah do not care for peace and never have, therefore the only option is to carry out their total defeat. Something Israel is likely to do very soon.
"It needs to be kept in mind that the State of Israel is defending its civilians in the south. No one has the right to preach morals to Israel, which must take the fundamental action of defending its residents against the rocket fire," Olmert stated today.
Thousands of rockets have hit southern Israel since the IDF withdrew from the Gaza Strip. Now the Palestinians will learn that their refusal for peace, tolerance and development will cost them very dearly. The West should and must stand shoulder to shoulder with Jerusalem.
Lorna Fitzsimons sums up the situation perfectly when she writes:
“What is plain is that the past seven years of attacks — and the dramatic increase in the past few months — have been unbearable for so many Israelis. Israel has acted with a commendable level of restraint that in all probability no other country in the world would have shown when under attack. Israel may well have to re-occupy large parts of Gaza, essentially admitting that its 2005 experiment of unilateral withdrawal failed — it wasn’t able to bring security to the region by giving back Gaza without a clear partner for peace on the other side. And where will all this leave Israel? Back at square one, pondering her next step in the search for a land-for-peace deal.”

When all the words have been spoken, they are still firing rockets into a sovereign country on a daily basis. This constitutes a state of war and Israel has every right to protect itself.
Like your new avatar.
Despite the HAMAS' penchant for innocent, intelligent shielding, the sitch is totally retarded -
After all, if an estimated 750K Gazans can diss the fence and make it into Egypt to buy snazzy moto bikes, ciggie puffs and try to trek to Cairo to meet hot girls, then surely innocents can get the heck out of a combat zone.
Bretwalda: Agreed. It looks like Rice's visit to the region today was utterly pointless also.
Thank you. :)
GSG: I was wondering the same about the motorbikes, gold watches, computers, cement bags and camels being taken into Gaza from Egypt last month. I thought these people were under dire poverty.
I forgot. The EU gives them all the money in the world!
I'm struck by the similarities with the current situation in Colombia. Marxist guerrillas (FARC) attack Colombia from within Ecuador then Venezuelan and Ecuadorean Marxist governments threaten Colombia with war.
The world needs to support Israel and Colombia, but don't expect sense from the EU.
Gregg: I thought the same and you're right regarding your final sentence.
